Author: Mike Pearlman, Secretary, ILRS Central Bureau
Subject: GLONASS

Dear Colleague:

GLONASS-72 has not been operational since May 26. We have maintained
SLR tracking since that date, while IGEX/IGLOS determined whether the
satellite could be resurrected and what alternative action should be
taken.

We have now been informed that GLONASS-72 cannot be resurrected and
IGEX/IGLOS has requested that the ILRS substitute GLONASS-78 in its
place. When and if new GLONASS satellites are launched, IGLOS will
again review the situation.

All tracking on GLONASS-72 should now cease. Predictions for GLONASS-
78 will be issued shortly.

Please continue to support the IGEX/IGLOS program.

Regards,

Mike
