Subject: [SLR-Mail] No. 777: Status of the Arequipa, Peru SLR Station From: Scott L. Wetzel Subject: Status of the Arequipa, Peru SLR Station Dear Colleagues, Last Saturday, there was a major earthquake that just off the coast of Peru near the city of Arequipa. As I´m sure you are all aware, the TLRS-3 SLR station is located in Arequipa and the area near the station did sustain major damage. I am very relieved and happy to say that none of the crew or their families were injured as a result of the earthquake or any aftershocks. At this time, it appears that no damage was sustained by the earthquake at the station itself and the crew will be making survey measurements to determine if a significant movement of the mount and/or any piers occurred. The reason that we have not seen any SLR data recently from the Arequipa site was due to a hardware failure that was being troubleshot prior to the earthquake. If there are any significant updates to the crew or system at the TLRS-3 station in Arequipa, Peru, we will provide updates to the community. Thanks to all that have expressed concerns. Best Regards.
