Subject: [SLR-Mail] No. 800: Starshine 3 Tracking From: Mike Pearlman <###FROM###> ******************************************************************************** SLR Electronic Mail 2001-08-16 18:20:00 UTC Message No. 800 ******************************************************************************** Author: Mike Pearlman Subject: Starshine 3 Tracking The Starshine Satellite is planned for launch on August 31. The array design is similar to ERS-2, but we still have some concerns about the quality of the cornercubes and the low orbit. The ILRS Governing Board has approved a one-month test by a small number of stations to verify satellite performance. If acquisition is successful and data yield is reasonable, approval will then be requested from the Governing Board. The NASA network has offered to provide the test. Although initially Starshine 3 will not be a fully endorsed ILRS mission, the acquisition data will be made available for other stations to track if they desire. You are invited to participate.
