Subject: [SLR-Mail] No. 832: Prediction survey results; repsonse to SLR mail # 0830 From: Chris Reigber > ******************************************************************************** SLR Electronic Mail 2001-11-04 19:13:00 UTC Message No. 832 ******************************************************************************** Author: Chris Reigber Subject: Prediction survey results; repsonse to SLR mail # 0830 Dear colleagues, First of all we want to thank Van Husson (HTSI) for his effort to prepare the ILRS Web page ”Prediction Survey of Sites” http://ilrs.gsfc.nasa.gov/prediction_survey.html. This presents a fairly complete and up-to-date picture of the prediction sources being used. Correlating this table with the CHAMP SLR tracking quantity per station shows that 6 out of 7 stations having tracked this year more than 60 passes in total have been using the GFZ predictions, which are provided up to three times per day and which are based on SLR and onboard GPS Nav data. At the CHAMP homepage http://op.gfz-potsdam.de/champ/ you can find monthly accounts of the SLR tracking of CHAMP at the “News” page. So one could conclude that it would be worthwhile for the other stations to consider the adoption of the GFZ predictions for improving their tracking record, especially of CHAMP.
