Earth´s rotation, reference systems and geodynamics: (joint with SE1.02) Convenors: Zuheir Altamimi (altamimi@ensg.ign.fr) Olivier de Viron (o.deviron@oma.be) SE1.02 Planet Earth: structure and dynamics: Geodynamics and earth rotation (joint with G6) Convenors: Roberto Sabadini (roberto.sabadini@unimi.it) Jean Dickey (Jean.Dickey@jpl.nasa.gov) Space Geodesy techniques, such as VLBI, LLR, SLR, GPS and DORIS, provide accurate observations allowing to study a wide variety of geophysical and geodynamic processes affecting the Earth shape and the parameters of its rotation. Based on the analysis of these observations, the challenge of this symposium is to discuss the link between the three major themes given in the title, highlighting their mutual interactions. Topics related to Earth´s rotation and reference frame correlation and consistency include their common modelling and the role of systematic errors, as determined either by an individual or multi-techniques of Space Geodesy or combination of individual estimates. Of interest to interactions between Terrestrial Reference Frame and geodynamics are geodetic and/or geologic global plate motion models, Earth surface deformation and geocenter motion. Discussion of geodynamic processes that influence the rotation of the Earth should focus on effects related, e.g., to core and mantle dynamics, including post-glacial rebound and seismic effects.
