Subject: [SLR-Mail] No. 943: ILRS Site Logs From: Van Husson, ILRS Central Bureau > ******************************************************************************** SLR Electronic Mail 2002-05-11 01:01:00 UTC Message No. 943 ******************************************************************************** Author: Van Husson, ILRS Central Bureau Subject: ILRS Site Logs Dear Colleagues: The sites logs have all been updated to remove format and some data integrity issues (more work is needed). In addition, contents of certain fields may have been changed for consistency and to enhance and enable search capabilities. All the site logs have been loaded in a ”MASTER” Microsoft Excel Workbook in order to have all the information in one place. The ”MASTER” Site Log Data Base has at least one worksheet per site log section. Each worksheet is sorted by site name and has the EXCEL auto filter feature enabled. You can and are encouraged to download the speadsheet(400Kb) located at: ftp://cddisa.gsfc.nasa.gov/pub/reports/slrlog/sitelog_master_2002_may_09.xls The site identifier web page at: http://ilrs.gsfc.nasa.gov/stations/sod_domes.html and the network maps (thanks Carey) have hyperlinks to each individual site. The site identifier page not only has hyperlinks to the individual ILRS site logs, but also has links to existing individual IGS, IVS or IDS site logs (for collocated sites). I would like to thank the sites and the Networks and Engineering Working Group for their dedicated support in improving the contents of the logs. Also a special thanks to Hoai Vo who assisted in the coding to produce the master EXCEL file. In order to make the best use of these logs, the sites are now REQUESTED to bring their logs CURRENT. The procedures for updating the logs are on the web site at: http://ilrs.gsfc.nasa.gov/stations/site_logs/index.html Here are some common problems or reasons for updating the existing logs (by section): Section 0: Form Ensure the email addresses are current Section 1. Identification of the Ranging System Reference Point This section should be OK and is verified by the CB. Section 2. Site Location Information This section should be OK and is verified by the CB. Section 3. General System Information Update when new eccentricity information is available (not applicable to some systems). If your DOMES number contains a ´S´ then ´0´ eccentricities are implied. Section 4. Telescope Information Be sure information is placed in the proper units and try to complete missing information. Section 5. Laser Type The primary wavelength was mis-understood and was corrected. For green wavelengths systems the primary wavelength is 1064 nm. The secondary wavelength is 532.1 nm as is used for laser ranging. The beam divergence and final beam diameter were not completed by some sites due to the difficulty in making the measurements. Section 6. Receiver System Be sure all fields are completed with the proper units. Many sites do not know or did not understand the mode of operation (i.e. Single Photon, few photons, many photons). The secondary chain does not apply to all sites. Section 7. Tracking Capabilities Make sure everything is current and complete. Section 8. Calibration Make sure everything is current and complete. Section 9. Time and Frequency Standards Model numbers were missing or incomplete. Section 10. Preprocessing Information Make sure everything is current and complete. Section 11. Aircraft Detection Some sites did understand what was meant by detection type and/or the question was not answered. We want to know if you have something to detect aircraft. Section 12. Meteorological Instrumentation Model numbers for the devices may be missing. Section 13. Local Ties THIS SECTION NEEDS THE MOST WORK. PLEASE ENSURE YOUR TIES ARE ACCURATE, COMPLETE, AND CURRENT. The ITRF is a major customer of this information and site ties posed the largest problem in combining the station position solutions from the different geodetic techniques. Section 14. Local Events Possibly Affecting Computed Position Please update this section with any site deformation activity (i.e. earthquake, volcano, etc.) Section 15. On-Site, Point of Contact Agency Information Please make sure addresses, emails are current. Also, please notify the Data Centers of any email changes. Section 16. Responsible Agency If applicable, please make sure addresses, emails are current. Section 17. More Information If applicable, ensure your URL is current. Notify the CB of any URL changes for your site. From: ”Husson, Van” ********************************************************************************
