Subject: [SLR-Mail] No. 980: Announcement of Survey Splinter Meeting at 13th International Laser Ranging Workshop From: James Long, HTSI > ******************************************************************************** SLR Electronic Mail 2002-09-25 09:04:00 UTC Message No. 980 ******************************************************************************** Author: James Long, HTSI Subject: Announcement of Survey Splinter Meeting at 13th International Laser Ranging Workshop Dear Colleagues, There is a splinter meeting, entitled ”Local Surveys for SLR: A Primer”, at the 13th International Laser Ranging Workshop in Washington D.C. The session is scheduled for Wednesday, October 9th from 1:30 - 3:00 p.m. in the General Session room. The purpose of this meeting is to provide an introduction to the concepts, methods, and practices of local surveys as performed in support of Satellite Laser Ranging and the inter-comparison with other SLR systems or other space geodetic techniques. As the SLR technique moves toward millimeter accuracy, it is anticipated that local surveys will play an important role in helping to achieve this goal. The discussion will focus on the practical application of survey methods, enabling station operators to better understand their local survey requirements and results. The meeting is open to everyone that has an interest in this topic. If you plan on attending this session, I would appreciate a reply to this email, so that I can get an idea of the number of attendees. Best Regards, James L.
