Subject: [SLR-Mail] No. 992: ETALON Tracking Priorities From: Carey Noll, Secretary, ILRS Central Bureau > ******************************************************************************** SLR Electronic Mail 2002-10-30 10:28:00 UTC Message No. 992 ******************************************************************************** Author: Carey Noll, Secretary, ILRS Central Bureau Subject: ETALON Tracking Priorities Dear Colleagues: The ILRS Analysis Working Group (AWG) requested that the increased priority on ETALON tracking be changed from campaign to routine status. The ILRS Governing Board has approved this request. The ETALON campaign was initiated in April of last year mainly for improving EOP (LOD), GM and station characterization and performance assessment. The EOP contribution is in particular related to the precession of the ascending node of the satellite (which is less affected by earth-originating forces and satellite-specific forces for ETALON than it is for LAGEOS). A significant improvement in the SLR determined LOD has been shown to date.
