Subject: [SLR-Mail] No. 1202: Targets Session, 14th International Workshop on Laser Ranging From: Graham Appleby (NSGF) and Toshi Otsubo (NICT) > ******************************************************************************** SLR Electronic Mail 2004-04-07 13:37:00 UTC Message No. 1202 ******************************************************************************** Author: Graham Appleby (NSGF) and Toshi Otsubo (NICT) Subject: Targets Session, 14th International Workshop on Laser Ranging Workshop Session on Targets, Signatures and Biases Dear Colleagues We would like to encourage you to contribute to the Workshop Session on Targets, Signatures and Biases to be held during the morning of Thursday June 10th 2004. Much progress has been made on this topic over the years, with the result that a clear understanding is emerging of the effects on range precision of the geometry and attitude of the retroreflector arrays, the detector characteristics and the return signal strength. However, with the goal of accurately referring range measurements to the phase centres of the arrays, such effects as variable return rates, aberration, detailed characteristics of arrays, etc. must be taken into account. With discussion on practical and theoretical topics, involving both current and future missions that will require support from the ILRS, this is usually a lively session. Please consider submitting an oral or poster paper to maintain this reputation! Please submit your abstract before May 1st via the Workshop website at http://www.roa.es/14workshop-laser and please also send a copy to us at the e-mail addresses listed below. Regards, Graham Appleby (gapp@nerc.ac.uk) and Toshi Otsubo (otsubo@nict.go.jp) From: ”Graham Appleby” ********************************************************************************
