Subject: [SLR-Mail] No.2112: passing of Steve Klosko From: Torrence, Mark H. (GSFC-698.0)[SGT INC] Author: Mark Torrence On Saturday afternoon August 6, 2012, Steve Klosko found peace and ended his intense battle with cancer. He was surrounded by family and loved ones. Our world is less joyful and less human with the passing of Steve. For those who are fortunate enough to know Steve, we knew him as a friend, mentor, scientist, father, scholar, and much, much more. He treated all equally, had a great sense of humor, and, to his core, was a fair and honest person. I believe all of us can say that Steve added quality and joy to our lives and to the world. A memorial service to celebrate Steve´s life has been scheduled for August 24 at 7 – 10 PM at The Meeting House, Oakland Mills Interfaith Center, 5885 Robert Oliver Place, Columbia, MD 20145. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to support the research of Steven´s doctor. Dr. Jaishri Blakeley is an Assistant Professor of Neurology, Oncology and Neurosurgery. She focuses her clinical efforts on the diagnosis and management of primary nervous system tumors. As the Director of The Johns Hopkins Comprehensive Neurofibromatosis Center, her research focus is in designing and conducting clinical trials to advance promising therapies for primary central and peripheral nervous system tumors. Donations can be made out to: ´”The Blakeley Neuro-Oncology Research Fund”. Care of: Martina Grunwald, MBA, Neurology and Brain Sciences, Fund for Johns Hopkins Medicine, 100 North Charles Street, Suite 401, Baltimore, MD 21201, Phone: 410-516-6250, mgrunwa1@jhmi.edu, www.hopkinsmedicine.org/neuro Sharing our thoughts and remembrances of Steve with the family is a way we can express our thoughts and memories while providing a special gift to his family.
