Subject: [SLR-Mail] No.2197: Possible CDDIS outage due to U.S. Government furlough From: Carey Noll ******************************************************************************** SLR Electronic Mail 2013-10-01 05:16:47 UTC Message No. 2197 ******************************************************************************** Author: Carey Noll/CDDIS As I´m sure you have heard, ongoing budget debates within the U.S. Federal Government have come to a critical point causing a potential furlough that will shut down non-essential U.S. Government services starting tomorrow, October 1. CDDIS is funded and operated by NASA and will be affected by this action. Should the government be shut down, CDDIS operations staff will not be permitted to work. It is not clear at this time whether NASA will continue to permit access to public web/ftp servers during this furlough. Therefore, access to the CDDIS computer facilities may be affected. Our hope, however, is that our systems can remain active, allowing users to be able to continue to access the archive through anonymous ftp and data/product suppliers to be able to continue to push files to CDDIS for archive. CDDIS operations could then continue in an automated fashion. However, should the CDDIS is unavailable, users can access one of the other data centers supporting the services: IGS: http://www.igs.org/organization/centers.html ILRS: http://ilrs.gsfc.nasa.gov/data_and_products/data_centers/index.html IVS: http://ivscc.gsfc.nasa.gov/about/org/components/dc-list.html IDS: http://ids-doris.org/data-products/info.html Let´s all hope that the U.S. Government passes a budget so we all can continue to work. I will keep you informed as I hear more news.
