I am the leader of the Astrophotonics research (www.icrar.org/astrophotonic= s) group within the International Cent= re for Radio Astronomy Research (ICRAR) at UWA. We conduct research on phas= e-synchronised frequency transfer on optical fibre =96 for the Square Kilom= etre Array (SKA) and Next-Generation Very Large Array (ngVLA) radio telesco= pes =96 and via free space laser links (see for example our attached PhysRe= vApplied paper and out latest results in the IFCS2020 abstract). UWA was recently awarded ~A$0.5M in funding from the SmartSat Cooperative R= esearch Centre (https://smartsatcrc.com/), to conduction a 1-year pilot pro= ject (with the possibility of a 2-year extension) to explore the optical da= ta communications application of our laser link technology (SmartSat CRC Pr= oject 1-01, see attached Summary document). We are looking to hire a postdo= ctoral researcher or research engineer with the following experience: optic= al communications, RF communications, free-space optics, photonics, and/or = frequency metrology. This is an informal call; however, the position is ava= ilable immediately. Given the ongoing COVID-19 situation, the successful ca= ndidate could commence the position while working remotely; however, we not= e travel exemptions are available for people with specialist skills not ava= ilable in WA. Subject: UWA SmartSat CRC Research Position Available

Dear Randall,

I am writing regarding a new rese= arch position in free-space laser links and optical communications at the U= niversity of Western Australia (UWA).

I am the leader of the Astrophoto= nics research (www.icrar.or= g/astrophotonics) group within the International Centre for Radio Astro= nomy Research (ICRAR) at UWA. We conduct research on phase-synchronised frequency transfer on optical fibre =96 for= the Square Kilometre Array (SKA) and Next-Generation Very Large Array (ngV= LA) radio telescopes =96 and via free space laser links (see for example ou= r attached PhysRevApplied paper and out latest results in the IFCS2020 a= bstract).

UWA was recently awarded ~A$0.5M in funding from the SmartSat Cooperative R= esearch Centre (https://smartsatcrc.co= m/), to conduction a 1-year pilot project (with the possibility of a 2-= year extension) to explore the optical data communications application of our laser link technology (SmartSat CRC= Project 1-01, see attached Summary document). We are looking to hire a pos= tdoctoral researcher or research engineer with the following experience: op= tical communications, RF communications, free-space optics, photonics, and/or frequency metrology. This is an infor= mal call; however, the position is available immediately. Given the ongoing= COVID-19 situation, the successful candidate could commence the position w= hile working remotely; however, we note travel exemptions are available for people with specialist skills = not available in WA.

Best regards,

Sascha.
