Subject: [SLR-Mail] No.2873: HERL: New kHz laser in operation From: Robert Sherwood - BGS Dear Colleagues, Following a period of integration and testing the new (Photonics Industries) kHz laser at Herstmonceux is in operation and data are soon to be provided to the databases. Test data collected using the new laser have passed the ILRS validation process and can now be used alongside those obtained with the old (HighQ) laser. In an unfortunate coincidence the HighQ laser has suffered a serious (hopefully not fatal) failure in the last week that means we are currently exclusively using the new laser. If we are able to repair the HighQ system, we will likely make use of both systems over the coming months as we make final adjustments to the physical arrangement of equipment in the laser room. I intend to start submission of data to EDC from today, and the backlog of passes collected over the past few months will be uploaded once we receive guidance as to the preferred way to manage this. Any questions or queries don`t hesitate to contact me.
