Subject: [SLR-Mail] No.2876: ILRS Support for QZS-6 Mission - Tracking campaign April 25-June 27, 2025 From: Carabajal, Claudia C. (GSFC-61A.0)[SCIENCE SYSTEMS AND APPLICATIONS INC] Dear ILRS Station colleagues, We are sending a reminder that the tracking campaign for the QZS-6 Mission is taking place April 25-June 27, 2025. Support from your station is needed. The QZS-6 satellite was launched on 2-Feb-2025, with an expected mission lifetime of 15 years. QZS-6 is one of 3 additional satellites that will be added to the QZSS constellation from the Government of Japan Cabinet Office. QZSS has been operating as a 4-satellite constellation since November 2018. Three satellites are visible at all times from Asia-Oceania. They can be used in an integrated way with GPS ensuring a sufficient number of satellites for stable, high-precision positioning. To improve position stability, one quasi-zenith satellite, one geostationary satellite, and one quasi-geostationary satellites will be added, to create a seven-satellite constellation. This is one of those three satellites. QSS/NEC will be providing the predictions, and they will be available from EDC and CDDIS. Support for the mission was requested and approved by the ILRS beginning within two months after launch. The campaign period is scheduled from April 25 to June 27, 2025. Predictions have been available since May 2025. To date, only a couple of stations have tracked it. Below are particulars for the ILRS mission support of the QZS-6 satellite: Satellite: QZS-6 Sponsor: Cabinet Office, Government of Japan Expected Life: 15 years Primary Applications: Satellite navigation Primary SLR Applications: Calibration of GPS orbits COSPAR ID: 2025-023A (ILRS ID 2502301) SIC Code: 1586 Satellite Catalog (NORAD) Number: 62876 Launch Date: 2-Feb-2025 NP Bin Size: 300 seconds RRA Diameter: X:340.3mm, Y:350.2mm, Z:56.1mm RRA Shape: Planar Reflectors: 56 corner cubes Altitude: 36,000 km Inclination: 0 degrees Orbit: Geosynchronous Eccentricity: 0 The mission will be placed in the Priority Tracking list at #46, ahead of the other QZS missions. The success of the campaign depends on your support of the mission from April 25 to June 27, 2025.
