Subject: [SLR-Mail] No.2895: [ekagaku1] SLR observation start on Nov 4 From: nakamura.shinichi@jaxa.jp Author : Shinichi Nakamura (JAXA) I am writing this email to draw your attention. Starting tomorrow, Tuesday, November 4th, we will start SLR observations of the ekagaku1 satellite. Considering the weather, we plan to conduct intensive observations for about two weeks. Of course, if we successfully acquire sufficient data for orbit determination, we will shorten the observation period. The configuration parameters are as follows. Satellite Name: ekagaku1 SIC: 1558 NORAD ID: 65942 COSPAR: 1998-067XP ILRS ID: 9806736 Altitude: Approximately 400 km. Please set the bin size to match LEO. We will distribute the CPF starting tomorrow, November 4th. Note that the CPF is created using orbits derived from JAXA`s SSA radar observations. We believe it offers higher accuracy than TLE. ekagaku1 was released from the ISS on October 10th. In fact, radio communication has not been established since then. The satellite mission now stands on the brink of success or failure. We sincerely request your cooperation. Note: The ekagaku1 satellite is not a JAXA satellite. It was developed and is operated by students from junior high school through university. JAXA is assisting with the SLR implementation. Best Regards Shinichi Nakamura
