Subject: [SLR-Mail] No.2896: [ekagaku1] SLR observation From: nakamura.shinichi@jaxa.jp Author : Shinichi Nakamura (JAXA) Dear ILRS colleague I should have contacted you via “ilrs-sta@lists.nasa.gov,” but due to my mistake, I was unable to reach you through that address. Please allow me to use “SLR Mail” just this once. JAXA has uploaded the CPF for the ekagaku1 satellite to the `EDC`. Due to insufficient technical preparation, it has not been uploaded to CDDIS. SLR stations able to assist with SLR observations of the ekagaku1 should download the CPF from the EDC. The configuration parameters are as follows. Satellite Name: ekagaku1 SIC: 1558 NORAD ID: 65942 COSPAR: 1998-067XP ILRS ID: 9806736 Altitude: Approximately 400 km. --> bin size 5 sec Note that the CPF is created using orbits derived from JAXA`s SSA radar observations. We believe it offers higher accuracy than TLE. ekagaku1 was released from the ISS on October 10th. In fact, radio communication has not been established since then. The satellite mission now stands on the brink of success or failure. We sincerely request your cooperation. Note also: The ekagaku1 satellite is not a JAXA satellite. It was developed and is operated by students from junior high school through university. JAXA is assisting with the SLR implementation.
