As of this writing ICESat has successfully separated and deployed solar panels. There are several milestones ahead, but the mission is off to a great start. The GPS receivers will be turned on about 3 days after launch. The spacecraft contractor will be spending the first several weeks in spacecraft ”shakedown” tests. The ILRS observational support is not finalized. Network support is not yet required. Special tests will be made to verify the use of the GPS data in the SLR predictions. We will keep you informed.
