Subject: New laser ranging prediction format

Dear Colleagues,

As many of you know from recent ILRS meetings, the ILRS Prediction
Format Study Group has been working over the last couple of years to
create a format that will provide predictions for not only the usual
satellites but also for lunar reflectors and laser transponders on or
orbiting the moon and farther out in the solar system.

The format has reached the stage in its development when we need input
from the laser ranging community. Implementing this format will
require significant effort from both the prediction providers as well
as the stations, so that it is vital that any blunders or
unanticipated problems be identified before implementation starts.

The format document can be found at
http://ilrs.gsfc.nasa.gov/working_groups/predictions_format_study_group/
clrpf/index.html
in html, ascii, and MS Word formats.

Please take time to read the document and make any comments by March
15. Responses can either be directed to me at rlr@astro.as.utexas.edu
or to the entire study group at ilrspfsg@ilrs.gsfc.nasa.gov.

Thank you.

Randall L. Ricklefs
Chair, ILRS PFSG
