Subject: WEGENER 98 - Urgent Deadline

Dear Collegues,

I would like to take the opportunity to thank the many of you who have
sent in a preliminary statement of participation in the WEGENER98
meeting,
and particularly those few of you who have submitted a title and short
abstract for the meeting (for more information on the meeting, see
http://wegener.gdiv.statkart.no/WEG98.html).

It is interesting to note that the majority of the participants is
interested in the weekend excursion to the mountains and fjords of
Norway including the particular city of Bergen - which for us
means that we now have the pleasure/are obliged to organize this event!

I also would like to remind all of you who have __not__ send in a title
and
abstract, that the deadline for sending in titles and abstracts is March
15,
1998. Unfortunately, up to now we have only received 12 contributed
titles.
Of course, there will be several invited papers and reports and a joint
seminar
with IGS and possible EUREF will be organised. But it must be clear to
everybody that we only can organize an exciting and fruitful meeting if
_you_
take actively part and contribute a presentation! Please, do not
hesitate to
supply at least a title and indicate (if the title is not
self-explaining) in
which of the session your presentation belongs. We need to finalize our
contract with the hotel before the end of March. Based on the number of
presentations submitted we will have to judge whether we have to reduce
the
meeting to three or even two days and we will not be able to accept any
late
submissions! I am sorry about that but the hotel needs to know our
requests
quite accurately.

Hoping that you understand this situation and that you are going to
respond immediately with submitting your title

Best regards

Hans-Peter Plag
