Subject: ILRS Weekly Tracking Records

Dear Colleagues,

Occasionally we get some emails from sites
telling us they had a really good week of ranging and
they were interested to know how their week compares to
the BEST. This email should answer those questions.

Thirteen months ago, we published a report on the
weekly tracking records (reference: SLRMail#0962).

We noted that tracking 200 passes in a week was
a major accomplishment and required cooperation of
the weather. Stations which achieved this milestone
were listed. So consider this as an update.

In SLRmail#0962, a few of the pass counts were slightly
inflated due to an accounting error. Back then, I
incorrectly assumed LEO normal point passes were not
segmented (i.e. supplied in two or more parts).

Since achieving the 200 passes/week has become more routine,
we have raised the bar (5%) to 210 passes, which is exactly
an average of 30 passes per day for 7 consecutive days.

Here are the sites that achieved this performance bar
(210 passes/week) and their number of occurrences
(frequency) since January 1995.

Time Span
Sta# Location Freq yyyy-ww to yyyy-ww
---- -------------- ---- ------------------
7110 Monument Peak 32 1997-19 to 2003-28
7090 Yarragadee 27 2002-05 to 2003-31
7839 Graz 12 1999-37 to 2003-12
7810 Zimmerwald 7 2002-30 to 2003-31
7840 Herstmonceux 6 2002-14 to 2003-12
7849 Mt. Stromlo 3 1999-16 to 2000-31
7105 Greenbelt 1 2002-32 to 2002-32

Below is the top ten all time BEST tracking weeks.
Please note that two sites were within 15 passes
of averaging 50 passes/week (WOW!).

receive honorable mention by averaging 25 passes a day for
7 days (i.e. >=175 passes/week) since 1995 are:
