Husson, ILRS CB Subject: 7838 SISL Simosato Frequency Error Dear Colleagues, Simosato data taken between 30 July 2003 and 26 August 2003 inclusive was taken with its timer/counter on internal frequency (i.e. had a scale error). This became apparent from Toshi´s CRL weekly bias reports by comparing LEO range biases to LAGEOS range biases. A frequency error is unrecoverable from an engineering perspective (i.e. can not be measured on-site). This should serve as a REMINDER to all SLR stations that SLR data ALWAYS needs to be taken with the TIMER on EXTERNAL frequency. This is a BEST PRACTICE. GENERIC BEST PRACTICES of TIMERS are located on the ILRS Web Site at: ilrs.gsfc.nasa.gov/engineering_technology/timing/tof_devices/best_practices.html From: ”Husson, Van” ******************************************************************************** |
