At 8:49(JST), JAXA checked the operational status of ADEOS-II, and found it was switched to a light load mode due to an unknown anomaly. After that, communications between the satellite and ground stations became unstable, and telemetry data was not received. The analysis of power generation data by the solar array paddle revealed that generated power has decreased from 6kW to 1kW. JAXA has been investigating the possibility of recovering the observations of ADEOS-II after an anomaly was detected in the satellite. However, as a result of our investigation, analysis, and inability to re-establish any communications with the satellite, JAXA found that the possibility of restoring the operations of ADEOS-II is extremely slim. In accordance with this official decision, we decided that we won´t be able to continue SLR operation of ADEOS-II any more. JAXA would like to express our gratitude for the support of ILRS and the SLR stations. We look forward to your continuing assistance in our future projects.
