Dear Colleagues:

We need your participation at the Site Stability Session at
Eastbourne on Monday afternoon.

Accurate ties between colocated measurement techniques are essential
for the development of the reference system and subsequently accurate
measurements of the dynamics of the Earth. Each technique (SLR, LLR,
VLBI, GPS, DORIS, gravimeters, etc) brings its own particular
strength to the solution, but much of this strength can be lost if
we compromise the accuracy over the last few connecting meters. All
SLR stations now have GPS receivers, so all stations have at least
two measurement techniques. Some stations have more.

Please come prepared to discuss the status of your station survey and
intertechnique ties: When were they last done? By whom? How was it
documented? Anything special about the technique? What kind of
monumentation do you use? How good do you think your survey is? How
do you know? What are your future survey plans? Do you routinely
monitor your system calibration for consistency?

This session will include some introductory talks on site stability,
but we plan to include sufficient time for discussion. We plan to ask
every station to participate. Bring some charts - the projector will
be available.

See you in Eastbourne,

Mike
