The ILRS can be proud of its contributions to the TOPEX project, which were absolutely central to the success of the mission. The scientific data collected by TOPEX/Poseidon are a gold mine and will be analyzed for years to come. We encourage the ILRS to support vigorously current altimeter missions such as JASON-1, ENVISAT, GFO-1, and future missions such as JASON-2, which will continue to extend the time history of ocean radar altimeter measurements of the Earth.
