| Content: | ******************************************************************************** SLR Electronic Mail 1998-08-14 14:00:00 UTC Message No. 146 ******************************************************************************** Author: Natalia Parkhomenko, MCC Subject: WESTPAC COSPAR ID Confirmation Correct WESTPAC COSPAR ID is 9804301 ! 9804305 is COSPAR ID of TECHSAT satellite. The WESTPAC was launched as one of piggyback of RESURS-01 -N4 RESURS launch was at 7:12 UTC 10 July. Separation WESTPAC from RESURS was at 12:53 UTC 10 July (5 -th circuit). Other minisatellite (TECHSAT) was separated from RESURS satellite on 22-d circuit. Confusion was with identification WESTPAC satellite. This satel- lite was separated from RESURS satellite together four other minisa- tellites. In accordance to NORAD information we thought that WESTPAC is satellite with ID=9804305. We fulfiled analysis on the basis of re- al orbit of RESURS satellite derived from radiomeasurements and preci- se orbit of 9804305 satellite derived by MCC from laser observations. >From this datas follow that orbits of RESURS satellite and 9804305 sa- tellite cross on 22-d circuit.Now we assure that satellite was named in NORAD as WESTPAC (9804305) is in reality Israeli satellite TECHSAT, ID WESTPAC is 9804301. Returns from TECHSAT are explained seven cube corner installed on the TECHSAT satellite as we know from owner of TECHSAT. Now we have more fifty succesful SLR sessions for real WESTPAC satellite (ID =9804301) from twelve SlR stations.
