Subject: 7405 TIGO resumed operation

Dear colleagues,

it took a little longer than we thought and there´s still a lot to do, but we
have finally restarted tracking at Concepción (TIGO).

Over the past 8 weeks, we replaced our 10 Hz two color laser as well as our
event timing system. The new laser is also a Ti:Saph two color system (847
and 423.5 nm as before), but the oscillator is now passivley mode locked
using SESAM mirror technology. The shot frequency is 100 Hz (I like to call
it a hHz or 0.1-kHz system). Both regenerative and subsequent multipass
amplifier are pumped by a diode pumped Nd:YAG laser (Jedi, manufactured by
THALES laser), so no more flashlamps. Oscillator and reg. amp. were
manufactured by HiQ laser, Austria, and resemble those you might have seen in
Graz and Herstmonceux. The pulse energy after the amplifiers is around 15 mJ.

Last week we have sent a few observations to ILRS and they seem to look good,
but analysists please notify us if you come across strange results. At
present our normal point analysis only uses 10 % of the data as we still have
to adapt the software for the higher repetition rate (so don´t be surprised
the full rate files don´t look bigger than before the upgrade). We hope to
have that fixed by next week.

Regards
