Subject: 7405 CONL: TIGO restarts two colour ranging

Dear colleagues,

I am glad to announce that TIGO (7405 CONL) resumed two colour ranging
with its Ti:Saph system after operating in near-infra-red only for
almost two years. A combination of optical and detector problems was
finally fixed early this month and we are regularly sending data in both
primary wavelength (847 nm) and second harmonic (423.5 nm) since August
1st. Our ”primary product” will still be data measured in the red (NIR)
channel. The blue passes will typically be shorter and less numerous, as
the signal is lost earlier. We have successfully tracked in two colours
up to Lageos, but not higher. However the blue passes come with
significantly less single-shot and (usually) smaller post-fit rms, and
therefore might be interesting to analysts. We also hope to contribute
to refraction studies using our colourful data. For those of you working
with CRD format NP files the blue channel data are not yet available, as
we first have to fix a software problem to send two files with different
headers.

Best regards,

Bernie
