I would like to thank the SLR community for the excellent cooperation during the past six years, in which I have been responsible for station CONL (7405). These years have been the most exciting of my professional life, not only because of the earthquake five months ago. With the help of my forerunner, Stefan Riepl, my German colleagues Hayo Hase and Armin Böer and not least the fantastic Chilean TIGO team we have been able to significantly improve the station´s performance. I would also like to thank my co-workers in Wettzell, especially Wolfgang Schlüter and Ulli Schreiber for their constant support in this effort, as well as all colleagues within the ILRS. The friendly colaboration within the SLR community was a big part of making my time in Chile a truly memorable experience. It is my hope that this work will be continued and extended despite of the difficult situation the TIGO project is currently undergoing. I will be replaced by a new SLR expert BKG is currently selecting. In the meantime, please direct any questions or requests w.r.t. TIGO´s SLR station to Armin Böer (aboer@udec.cl) or directly to the SLR team (slrengineers@tigo.cl). Unfortunately, my desire to organize the next ILRS workshop in Concepción became a late victim of the 8.8 earthquake, as was informed by SLRmail yesterday. I am sorry for the late notification, but I and my superiors were still hoping to be able to host the workshop in Chile until very recently. As Mike wrote in his message, it would be great to have the workshop in South America some time in the future. My email address at TIGO will remain operative for some time, and starting in August you can reach me under the following addresss: bernd.sierk@esa.int I would be happy to keep in touch with you. After all, I will remain in the satellite business... Thanks again and best wishes, Bernie --------------------------------------------------- Dr. Bernd Sierk Bundesamt für Kartographie und Geodäsie (BKG) Observatorio TIGO - Universidad de Concepcion Camino Einstein km 2.5 Concepcion, Chile email: bernd.sierk@bkg.bund.de Tel: +56-41-2207035 Fax: +56-41-2207031 WWW: www.tigo.cl --------------------------------------------------- From: bsierk ******************************************************************************** |
