Subject: In-Sky laser safety Session at LW17, Bad Koetzting, Germany

Dear Colleagues

We are organizing what we hope will be an interesting and useful session to=
discuss existing and any upcoming techniques that ensure aircraft safety w=
hile we carry out our LR activities. Many techniques are used within the IL=
RS Network, including pulsed RADAR, Doppler RADAR, auto-detection of aircra=
ft transponders, eyesafe-LiDAR, sky-cameras and eagle-eyed observers. We in=
vite as many stations as possible to make brief reports on their existing a=
nd future plans for this vital aspect of our work. Particularly interesting=
for Session attendees are likely to be procedures that have been developed=
by stations to ensure the ongoing effectiveness of their systems, day and =
night, year after year.

Please submit, by the end of this week, short abstracts of your presentatio=
ns through the Workshop website so that we can plan this session. We look f=
orward to seeing you at the Session.

Regards,
Howard Donovan, Graham Appleby, Francis Pierron.
