We understand from Mark Fujishin the TOPEX/Poseidon Mission Manager that the B-side has been powered up and looks fine so far. The restart sequence and the beacon uploads are now underway. Several days will be required for warm up and stabilization, and then the on-board delay of DORIS B must be calibrated using the SLR orbits. This sequence will take three 10 day cycles or about 30 days. The SLR network support on TOPEX continues to be substantial, but we are moving into a period that is traditionally marked by poor weather. In order to maintain quality orbits through this difficult period, the TOPEX project has requested that we maintain as much as possible our normal tracking operations and priorities during the holiday season. Every pass will count. Good luck and best wishes for the holiday season. Dr. Michael R. Pearlman Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics 60 Garden St. Cambridge MA 02138 tel. (617) 495-7481 fax.
