Dear Colleagues -

As part of the AGU Meeting of the Americas that will be held in Cancun, Mexico during 14-17 May 2013 there will be a session on ”Geodetic Infrastructure for the Americas”. The description of the session is given below.

On behalf of the conveners I would like to draw your attention to this session and encourage you to participate in it. We are developing a rich session that will include presentations on the current status and planned evolution of the geodetic infrastructure in the Americas, its use to determine national and regional reference frames, and its use to study natural hazards. We hope that you will be able to join us in Cancun for this exciting session. More information about the Meeting of the Americas can be obtained from its web site at .

Please note that the deadline for submitting abstracts is 06 February 2013.

Hope to see you in Cancun!

Best regards,
Richard

G03: Geodetic Infrastructure for the Americas

One of the key goals of the Global Geodetic Observing System is to actively promote the sustainment, improvement and evolution of the global geodetic infrastructure needed to meet Earth science and societal requirements. This infrastructure is essential for providing the observations needed to determine and maintain global and regional reference frames like ITRF2008 and SIRGAS; it is also the backbone for using geodetic observations for natural hazard identification, assessment, prioritization, prediction, and early warning. This session is a forum for discussing the current status and planned evolution of the geodetic infrastructure in the Americas, its use to determine national and regional reference frames, and its use to study natural hazards.
