The Jason-3 spacecraft has been successfully launched from Vandenberg Air Force Base (California, U.S.A)
yesterday at 18:42 UTC, January 17, 2016.
Satellite separation from the launcher and solar array deployment were performed about one hour later.
The spacecraft was launched with good precision on its
injection orbit, and the Earth terminal network is working smoothly.
Initial telemetry reports show that all systems are in excellent health.

Since the launch, flight operations have been performed nominally.
The CNES DORIS instrument was turned on this morning at 05:40 UTC.
The altimeter will be switched ON tomorrow at 16:10 UTC and the AMR and GPSP on Tuesday morning.
The final orbit is expected to be reached 18 days after launch, with the beginning of cycle-0 on February 4th.
Soon thereafter we hope to release near real-time OGDR data to the Jason-3 PIs.

Congratulations to the Jason-3 teams at CNES, NASA, JPL, EUMETSAT & NOAA,
and of course to Space-X and Thales Alenia!

On behalf of the Jason-3 Project Scientists,

Josh Willis, Pascal Bonnefond, Remko Scharroo & John Lillibridge
