Author:unknown
Content:Dear Carey,

As one of the two creators of the ILRS in 1998 and its first Governing Board Chairman, I would like to thank you for your 22 years of outstanding service as Secretary of the ILRS Governing Board and for your even lengthier service at the NASA CDDIS which predates my role as Deputy Manager of NASA´s Crustal Dynamics Project. Together with the DGFI in Germany , you effectively managed the collection, storage, and distribution of geodetic data around the globe. You have every right to be very proud of your long service to the international geodetic community. We will all miss you as you transition into retirement.

Sincerely,

John Degnan

Dear Colleagues,

After 39 years of government service at NASA, I will begin a period of phased retirement on February 02, 2020, working part-time as my duties are transitioned to others. Therefore, as of February 01, I will hand over management of the CDDIS to Pat Michael, our current, experienced, and very capable, CDDIS Deputy Manager. I am confident that Pat will effectively lead CDDIS and work to maintain its excellent reputation in the national and international community as NASAs archive of space geodetic data and products. Although I am not quite saying goodbye as I will continue working part-time at NASA for the next year, Pat will oversee CDDIS activities; please reach out to him and our support staff (support-cddis@earthdata.nasa.gov) with your questions.

For the near-term, I plan to continue my work within the international community, particularly with the ILRS Central Bureau and the IGS data center activities, and will transition those responsibilities to colleagues over the next year.

I have truly valued and appreciated my time as manager of the CDDIS for these past 30+ years, working with our CDDIS staff and colleagues in space geodesy around the world, to ensure the archive succeeded in supplying the data that satisfied their research requirements. Pat will continue the great work of the CDDIS and implement enhancements to further assist our expanding user community.

Best,
Carey.
