International Association of Geodesy (IAG)

2nd International Symposium of IAG Commission 4 - 2020

======================================================

September 7-11, 2020

Potsdam, Germany

https://iag-commission4-symposium2020.net/

We are pleased to announce that the second Symposium of the

International Association of Geodesy (IAG) Commission 4 ”Positioning

and Applications” will be held during the week of September 7-11, 2020

in the Lecture Room of Building H, Telegrafenberg in Potsdam, Germany.

All interested individuals are invited to attend the meeting.

The 2nd IAG Commission 4 Symposium brings together scientists,

researchers and professionals dealing with the broad area of positioning

and applications. For this purpose, it will facilitate the discussion of

research that leverages current and emerging positioning techniques and

technologies aiming at delivering both practical and theoretical

solutions for engineering and mapping applications, GNSS-based

technologies, sensors fusion, and atmospheric remote sensing, modelling,

and applications, based on geodetic techniques. Recognizing the central

role of Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) in providing high

accuracy positioning information today and in the future, the 2nd IAG

Commission 4 Symposium will focus on ongoing research for improving

models and methods that enhance and assure the performance of GNSS-based

positioning solutions for a wide range of geodetic applications. The 2nd

IAG Commission 4 Symposium will be devoted to the discussion of theory,

strategies and tools for modelling and/or mitigating the effects of

interference, signal loss and atmospheric effects as they apply to

precise GNSS and other space geodetic techniques. They will address the

technical and institutional issues necessary for developing backups for

GNSS, integrated positioning solutions, automated processing capabilities

and quality control measures.

Besides positioning, another focus of the 2nd IAG Commission 4 Symposium

will be on remote sensing and modelling of the lower and upper atmosphere.

The Space Geodesy and Ionosphere (SGI) Workshop in 2020 is embedded in

this event.

This symposium will be carried out in close cooperation with the

International GNSS Service (IGS),

the IAG Global Geodetic Observing System (GGOS) Focus Area

Geodetic Space Weather Research,

as well as via linkages with relevant entities within scientific and

professional sister organizations.

The Symposium will be co-sponsored by the

International Association of Geomagnetism and Aeronomys (IAGA),

Division II Aeronomic Phenomena Working Group IIC Meteorological

Effects on the Ionosphere.

Further partners are the Institute of Navigation (ION),

the Technische Universitt Berlin and the GFZ Potsdam.
