| Content: | On May 6, 2021 Mikhail Sadovnikov, a wonderful person, our colleague, a well-known scientist in the field of laser ranging, suddenly passed away. Mikhail Sadovnikov came to work at PSI in 1972, while still a student at the Moscow Power Engineering Institute, as a 2-degree technician and became one of the founders of the development of Russian laser ranging, a well-known specialist in the field of optoelectronic and laser information-measuring systems and complexes. Under his direct scientific supervision, the following have been developed: SLR systems forming the Russian satellite laser ranging network; laser on-board retroreflector systems installed on all GLONASS satellites, as well as on many other domestic and foreign satellites to provide high-precision laser raging, as well as laser query-non-query systems designed to control time-frequency parameters. The top of scientific and technical activity of M. Sadovnikov is the calculation, development and creation of the new generation SLR system ”Tochka”, which showed high accuracy during tests. M. Sadovnikov was always friendly and extremely attentive to his colleagues at work, a wise mentor and kind informal leader of the team, he always knew how to create an optimistic mood in the process of solving complex production issues and tasks. Everyone who knew Mikhail Sadovnikov and worked with him deeply mourns his untimely death and expresses condolences to his family and friends !!! Natalia Parkhomenko |
