Subject:[SLR-Mail] No.2745: GLONASS data policy at EDC
Author:unknown
Content:Dear colleagues,

the Technical University of Munich (TUM) lives European values of
openness, tolerance and international understanding in its diverse
partnerships and networking. Russia´s attack on Ukraine in the heart of
Europe on 24 February and the suffering it caused, especially among the
Ukrainian civilian population, deeply shocks our university community.
Our thoughts are with those affected at this difficult time. Our
solidarity goes out to the people of Ukraine who are facing hardship and
suffering due to the war, and to all those who are actively working to
restore peace in Europe.

Based on the liberal canon of values of an enlightened society, we at
TUM combine cosmopolitan networking with respect for the self-image of
people from all cultural circles and world regions. As a place of
exchange of knowledge, an open exchange of ideas and non-violent
discourse are our most valuable assets. This forms the backbone of
science and calls upon us as a scientific organisation to stand up for
the principles of democracy, human rights and peaceful coexistence in
the face of such an extraordinary situation. Russian aggression and
disregard for agreements under international law cannot remain without
serious consequences in a scientific cooperation based on liberal
principles.

In this regard, the Eurolas Data Center (EDC) operated by TUM will cease
its support for the Russian navigation system Glonass and will stop
providing SLR observations to Glonass satellites with immediate effect.

In the interest of all concerned, we very much hope that peace will be
restored soon.

Best regards,
the EDC team
