ILRS General Assembly and EUROLAS Business Meeting
Florence, 22/23 September 1999
**************************************************

Dear colleagues,

as one of the EUROLAS representatives in the ILRS Governing Board I am
requested to present a short status report about the EUROLAS subnetwork at
the ILRS General Assembly on Wednesday, 22 Septmeber 1999.

May I ask all station managers to send me a SHORT summary (just a very few
sentences!) of important system modifications finalized since fall 1998,
currently under way or planned during the coming year, and any other
information you would like me to forward to the general assembly. The
EUROLAS data center and the analysis centers are also welcomed to submit
their respective reports if appropriate.

We will also have a EUROLAS business meeting on Thursday evening. If you have
any items to discuss at this meeting please send me a short message with
the topic. One item on the agenda will be the open issues of centralized
Fullrate Data Archiving raised some time ago by the ASI colleagues and the
realtime status and information exchange between the laser stations.

I would like to propose you to have a look at the ILRS web site
(ilrs.gsfc.nasa.gov). During the last year the site has evolved into a
well-stocked reference for all aspects of SLR/LLR tracking. You also find
information about the activities of the various ILRS working groups.

Thank you very much for your cooperation.

Best regards

Werner Gurtner
