Subject: Options for NP Delivery from ILRS stations

Dear Colleagues,

Normal Point (NP) Delivery Procedure(s) for the ILRS network stations
are tabulated below. Historically, stations have sent their NP data
to one of two operation centers (EDC or HTSI). EUROLAS stations have
sent their data to the EDC; NASA stations have sent their data to
HTSI; and WPLTN stations have sent their data to either the EDC or
HTSI. Now there is a third choice as a backup in case the EDC or
HTSI is inaccessible. These choices will help to ensure a usable
backup option whether the stations submit their data by ftp or email.
EDC and HTSI are ftp backups for each other. AIUB will now be the
email backup for EDC.

Center Data Transmission Options Comments

EDC ftp or email ftp backup to HTSI
HTSI ftp ftp backup to EDC
AIUB email email backup to EDC

Any questions please contact the ILRS Central Bureau at

Normal Point Delivery Procedures for the ILRS Network Stations

PROCEDURE 1 -- NP DELIVERY TO EDC

This procedure is routinely used by the EUROLAS network and by
selected systems in the WPLTN network. This procedure can
also be used as a backup for stations that regularly send
their data to HTSI, when HTSI is inaccessible.

EDC accepts two data transmission methods (e-mail and ftp).

1a) E-MAIL METHOD TO EDC:

Send your data via email to edc@dgfi.badw-muenchen.de .
There is no subject naming convention, but the body of the
message should start with the station name followed
by the NP data in the ILRS NP format. Please do not send
attachments.

Example:

FROM: Changchun
TO: edc@dgfi.badw-muenchen.de

1b) FTP METHOD TO EDC:

Ftp your data in ASCII mode (not BINARY) to the EDC at:

IP Address: 129.187.165.3
Node Name: dgfi.badw-muenchen.de
User: ftpin
Password: *********** (supplied upon request from EDC,
Wolfgang Seemueller at edc@dgfi.badw-muenchen.de)
Directory: /incoming/laser/station

File Naming Convention: the file name should start with the
station location name
(e.g. graz_0630)

File Content: Include only NP data in the NP format
(no other text lines please)

Example FTP Session:

>FTP 129.187.165.3
>User: ftpin
>Password: ************* (supplied upon request from EDC)
>cd /incoming/laser/station
>ASCII
>put graz_0630 graz_0630
>bye

PROCEDURE 2 -- NP DELIVERY TO HTSI

This procedure is used by selected stations in the WPLTN network.
This procedure can also be used as a backup procedure for stations
that regularly send their data to the EDC, when the EDC is
inaccessible.

HSTI accepts NP data only via ftp (no email). Ftp your data in
ASCII mode (not BINARY) to HTSI at:

IP Address: 198.186.51.19
Node Name: slral2.honeywell-tsi.com
User: fg_normpts
Password: *********** (supplied upon request by HTSI,
Oscar Brogdon at
dsgqlk@slral2.honeywell-tsi.com)
Directory: default directory (no action required)

File Naming Convention: the only convention is the file name
suffix is .QLD or .qld
(e.g. strl_001011.qld or stml_001011.QLD
are both acceptable)

File Content: Include only the NP data in the NP format
(no other text lines please)

Comment: The HTSI node name will change at a later date, for this
reason the IP address is recommended.

Example FTP Session:

>FTP 198.186.51.19
>User: fg_normpts
>Password: *********** (supplied upon request from HTSI)
>ASCII
>Put STRL0014501.QLD STRL0014501.QLD
>Bye

PROCEDURE 3 -- NP DELIVERY TO ZIMMERWALD (AIUB)

This procedure is to be used only as a backup
when the EDC is inaccessible.

Zimmerwald only accepts email data transmission.

Send your NP data by email to np@aiubzmd.unibe.ch .
There is no subject naming convention. Any text in the message body
preceding the first ”99999” identifier will be skipped.
Please do not send attachments.

Example:

FROM: Changchun
TO: np@aiubzmd.unibe.ch
SUBJECT: NP Data

Within 10 minutes after receipt, the incoming messages are
automatically extracted from the Zimmerwald mailbox, placed
into files and sent by ftp to the appropriate directory at HTSI
on slral2.honeywell-tsi.com using the filenames:

nnnn-dd-mmm-yyyy-hh-mm-ss.QLD

where
nnnn is the CDP number of the station,
dd-mmm-yyyy-hh-mm-ss is the current date and time

e.g., 7237-29-OCT-2000-17-24-38.QLD
