Subject: Low elevation tracking of Grasse LLR

Dear collegues,

the first two passes at low elevation ending on lageos 1 and 2 have been
obtained at the Grasse LLR station.

The day 353 we ranged on Lageos 2 at 23 h 20 from 70 degree falling elevation
to 5 degree falling elevation.
The day 354 we ranged on Lageos 1 at 00 h 49 from 24 degree rising elevation to
4 degree falling elevation.

We will continue to range Lageos 1 and 2, if the weather is good.

We also will plan to track GPS satellites at low elevation.

The first limits we have found are:

It is difficult to obtain returns quickly on the satellite at the rising;
we need few minutes to find it and the satellite elevation for the first
returns is most of the time 25 degree in day and 20 degree in night.

If the weather is good, the low elevation limit is 3 degree,the limit of the
telescope mount.
