Paunonen Subject: none (file transmission) Subject: New SLR at Metsahovi Dear Colleagues, First well-ordered satellite laser ranging (SLR) measurements with the new system (CDDIS No 7806) at Metsahovi, Finland, were done Sept 26/27, 1997. Ten passes from various close-Earth satellites were ranged and the data were sent to EDC some days later. Seven passes were in common with the old SLR 7805. No alarming errors were found during the data pre-processing. The offsets from the well-determined IGS GPS point, METS GPS 10503 S011, are: dx (m) dy (m) dz (m) METS SLR 7806 36.216 -30.258 -35.388 METS SLR 7805 24.471 -35.528 -23.274 The accuracy of the offsets is expected to be a few millimetres. The coordinates of 7805 given in ITRF´94 should not be used.
