The three laser collocation with the Grasse fixed SLR, the updated version of the mobile FTLRS system, and the Grasse LLR system was completed on LAGEOS in December. The results will be presented at EGS, but the FTLRS is now considered ready for its operational phase. Last week, the FTLRS was installed on Corsica near Ajaccio a few kilometers from the JASON-1 calibration site. The estimated occupation time on Corsica will be about six months with tracking focused on JASON and the other ILRS priorities including LAGEOS (to compute accurate coordinates of the reference point). FTLRS normal points will be sent to EDC simultaneously with data from the Grasse fixed SLR and LLR systems. The quality of the FTLRS data, estimated from the qualification tests, is at the level of the Grasse fixed SLR system in terms of accuracy and stability. They are optimistic that the FTLRS will be reliable and efficient in the field, in spite of a small link budget on LAGEOS.
