| Content: | ******************************************************************************** SLR Electronic Mail 2002-08-16 10:14:00 UTC Message No. 970 ******************************************************************************** Author: Carey Noll/CDDIS Subject: International Laser Ranging Workshop -- REGISTRATION REMINDER Subject: International Laser Ranging Workshop -- REGISTRATION REMINDER Thirteenth International Workshop on Laser Ranging REGISTRATION REMINDER --------------------- This is another reminder that deadlines are approaching for the Thirteenth International Workshop on Laser Ranging to be held in Washington D.C. during the week of October 07-11, 2002 at the Hyatt Regency Washington on Capitol Hill. The registration and abstract deadlines are FRIDAY, AUGUST 23, 2002. We ask that you register so early to permit security paperwork for the GGAO tour to be processed in time. We hope that all workshop attendees will participate in this tour to view SLR2000, MOBLAS-7, MV-3, and other facilities. Honeywell Technology Services, Inc. will host a barbeque at GGAO prior to the tours; it promises to be quite an event not to be missed! We regret the extensive amount of paperwork, but these items are required in light of stricter security measures at U.S. government facilities since September 11. As a reminder, all participants in the workshop must register and complete the following paperwork (at a minimum): o on-line registration form at http://cddisa.gsfc.nasa.gov/lw13/lw_register.html o hardcopy registration form at http://cddisa.gsfc.nasa.gov/lw13/lw_register.pdf and fax to Kathy Regul at 301-345-4659 If you are a foreign national and plan to go attend the GGAO event, you must additionally follow these steps by August 23: o complete the hardcopy form at http://cddisa.gsfc.nasa.gov/lw13/foreign_visitor.html and fax to Kathy Regul at 301-345-4659 o fax a copy of your passport with picture and/or visa to Kathy Regul at 301-345-4659 o if you are from the designated countries list (http://cddisa.gsfc.nasa.gov/lw13/designated_countries.html), fax a brief resume to Kathy Regul at 301-345-4659 Hotel reservations must be made by MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 9, 2002. If you do not make your reservation by this time you cannot be guaranteed either a room at the conference hotel or the workshop rate (a substantial savings over their regular room rates). The special workshop rate at the Hyatt is very competitive with other hotel rates in downtown Washington D.C. Furthermore, failure by our workshop to fully use the block of rooms set aside for us will cause NASA to incur a large cost burden. Therefore, we ask that you book your reservation with the Hyatt as soon as possible.
