Reigber, F.-H. Massmann GFZ Potsdam Subject: Fifth Anniversary of the ERS-2 Satellite Mission Dear colleagues, Last Friday the ERS-2 satellite completed the 5th year in orbit successfully. Since its launch on April 21st 1995 ERS-2 has orbited the Earth 26160 times and the SLR network has tracked about 22500 passes up to now. Congratulations to all of you for this excellent support of the mission. The satellite is still in good condition and will be operated at least till the end of the ENVISAT Commissioning Phase (todays estimate: end 2001). Looking forward to a continuation of this strong SLR support of the ERS-2 mission and the upcoming CHAMP satellite mission (launch postponed to mid July 2000) best regards Ch. Reigber F.-H.
